Taekwondo + Yoga + Reiki + Massage

The Lotus Academy is a safe space for people of all ages to find connection and community while exploring healing of the mind, body, and Spirit.

We believe that each discipline we offer has its own unique way of helping our members learn to accept their mud, so they can find their lotus.

Taekwondo

Although Taekwondo was originally developed for the Korean military, it is much more than practical combat training. When harnessed properly, it becomes a means of spiritual education, and emphasize the personal development of the participant. It becomes an avenue to achieve mental tranquility and the deepest self-confidence which extends beyond the time in the studio.

Yoga

When most hear the word “Yoga” they likely think of the physical practice that helps to develop flexibility. Asana (the physical practice of Yoga poses) is only one type of Yoga. Holistically, Yoga is an ancient way of connecting body, breath, and mind through postures, breathing practices, and meditation. The Lotus Academy aims to honor and offer the many forms of Yoga.

Reiki

Reiki is a form of energy healing with Japanese roots performed by an attuned practicioner. Reiki is a safe, gentle, and non-invasive healing modality that is often used as complimentary treatment. It promotes relaxation, stress reduction, and symptom relief to improve overall health and well-being and can assist the body with healing on all levels: mind, body, and Spirit.

Massage

Massage therapy is a type of integrative medicine performed by a licensed professional. It involves using different pressures, movements and techniques to manipulate muscles and other soft tissues of the body. With a goal of slowing down your nervous system, massage therapy can be used to release stress and tension, provide relief from symptoms, heal injuries and support wellness.

Family Owned + Operated

The Lotus Academy is a third generation Martial Arts Academy with a modern twist. Co-Owned by father-daughter duo, Chris and Katie, and supported by many other family members.

Chris Gantner

  • Grand Master Chris Gantner began his Taekwondo training at the age of 11 with his father, Jay Gantner. They eventually opened a school together and went on to teach hundreds of students over the years. Chris has dedicated his life to maintaining the integrity of Taekwondo and sharing the healing Spirit of this traditional martial art. He is excited to now be continuing this family tradition by bringing The Lotus Academy to life with his daughter, Katie.

Katie Gantner

  • A version of The Lotus Academy has been a dream of Katie’s since she was a young child. She began her Taekwondo training at the age of 5 and it had a profoundly positive impact on her development. After struggling with OCD for many years, Katie also found that Yoga and Reiki were valuable practices for her mental health tool kit. Now, Katie’s dream is to incorporate all of these practices under one roof and share them with others. She hopes that someone will discover something at the Lotus Academy that can help them as much as these practices have helped her.
